Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, second degree
Tryfon began his training in 2000 at Practical Martial Arts(PMA) under Mike Valentine. There he learned the combined arts of kickboxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu, earning a black belt in Freestyle MMA under Mike Valentine in 2004.
Tryfon worked as an instructor at PMA for 12 years and taught hundreds of students, honing his skills as an instructor. During His time at PMA he also studied weapons fighting with Richard Lowry and learned Fear Adrenaline Stress Training(F.A.S.T defense) from Bill Kip. Tryfon has also trained MMA at the El Nino Training Center with Gil Melendez and Jake Shields.
In 2004 Tryfon met his current Jiu Jitsu coach Eduardo Rocha and began to compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions, earning multiple championships at every belt level. He received a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu from Eduardo Rocha in 2013, and has since won several championships as a black belt as well. Tryfon is still actively competing in the black belt master divisions.
In 2011 Tryfon opened North Bay Jiu Jitsu. Tryfon's mission as an instructor is to share his passion for Jiu Jitsu with his community and show his students how healthy, fun and rewarding the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle can be.
